Closing in on 23 weeks

Getting bigger, that's for sure! Especially compared to a picture from about a month ago.

We also got a crib today...more on that later :)

Convertible Cribs

Justin and I have been looking at cribs. White cribs, small cribs, brown cribs, fancy cribs, blond cribs; 4-way convertible cribs, regular ol' plain cribs...there are many from which to choose.

We've narrowed it down to a white convertible crib, but have yet to make a final decision...we've had a few other decisions to make in the last month. You understand.

The convertible crib is a nice idea -- it can change from crib to toddler bed, from toddler bed to a "big kid" bed and from "big kid" bed to to a full-size bed; complete with headboard and footboard.

Justin and I have had several giggle fests about what it would be like for future BT to bring home his/her college sweetheart and for BT to show said sweetheart it's childhood room...

Imagine with us, if you will, future BT saying, "See these teething marks along the headboard and footboard? I did that. This used to be my crib. And these over here? They're from my older sibling(s?). Also, this is where I drew on the crib with a permanent marker...mom hasn't been able to bring herself to clean it off or paint over it because she thinks it's 'cute,' and dad won't sand it down because it's 'nostalgic.' Since I'm the youngest, I got to see the crib through to its full conversion. Yea."

I'm hoping to create or invest in some teething protectors when the time comes, just to save future BTs the embarrassment of 25-year-old teething marks on their full-size bed.

Half Baked

I couldn't help myself with the title of this post...BT is half baked! I can't believe how fast the 20 weeks have gone (well, I wasn't aware of the first 6-8 weeks), and expect the next 20 to pass at the same rate. Prayers for a continued healthy pregnancy and roughly 20 more weeks of baby-baking are certainly appreciated!

I'm not taking a pic this week...I've been cooped up in a hotel for a few days and am not ashamed to say I look as if I've been cooped up in a hotel for a few days. Plus, Justin is gone on a business trip so there is no reason for me to dig out a pair of pants that aren't my yoga pants...I have nowhere to go and nothing to do!

Also, the pic from Week 19 was taken just two days ago so not much has changed.

What has changed, however, is the BT. Little one is just growing and growing! Praise the Lord :) We got the ultrasound results from my doctor, and the good news is, on the date of the ultasound, there was a, "single living intrauterine gestation with composite sonographic age of 19 weeks 3 days." The tricky news is the, "single living intrauterine gestation [is] in predominantly breech position."

Good thing BT has a few weeks to rotate and undo its breechiness. Here are the stats:

Moving update: we expect the moving truck to arrive by Monday. We got the keys to our new place on Monday and I love it! It's full of character and has plenty of space for our belongings. I can't wait to get all moved in and settled. Seeing the room we'll likely make the nursery has also prompted me to get crackin' on our baby registries. 

We started one on Amazon, Babies R Us and Target. I'm soooo thankful for the lists of baby needs from my mama friends. Goodness gracious, babies need a lot of stuff! I'm also excited that all three stores where we registered offer parents a nice discount on items still on their registry after baby's due date -- thus, we've added on quite a few items...who doesn't love a nice discount! I think my favorite item is the crib sheet set we put on Amazon...I also saw it on an ad for Vonage bundles. Ha! 

I plan to get over to the new place today or tomorrow and will take more pics and possibly a video...keep your eye on the blog for updates!

Week 19...and we're on the road!

Well...I'm writing this from our hotel in Spokane. We made it! Justin went in to work for a bit this morning after we picked up the keys to our new place -- which looks great, by the way! More on that later.

I had two doctor appointments last Thursday -- one was a regular check-in with the doctor and the second was our ultrasound. BT looked happy and healthy in there, to us anyway. Moving, flipping, stretching, curling and also crouching and then launching itself upward as if the bottom of my uterus (sorry to say uterus) were a trampoline. What I loved most was seeing it wiggle on the screen and also being able to feel those little movements. It's still trippy.

I have a few basic maternity shirts, but am quickly outgrowing most of my regular shirts...I'm going to have to do something about that soon. This is probably the last week I'll wear this sweater, which I thought would be long enough when I packed it for our week of playing vagrants.

19 weeks, 5 days...nearly 20 weeks!

Jen came to town!

My dear friend Jen came to town in February. She was on an awesome, super-secret business trip to LA from NY and decided pop up to the Bay Area to say hello. It's not every day you're in California when you live in New York, so we were SOOO happy to have her come visit!

I've mentioned Jen a few times here on the ol' blog, but here's a quick recap: I call her "Jenny from Georgia" in conversation because it seems I have heap of friends named Jen! Funny thing is, I've never actually seen Jen IN Georgia...unless you count the Atlanta airport, which I guess you could if you get technical. However, I've only ever seen Jen in Australia (the place we met), Kentucky, Indiana, London, Ireland, Washington and California. And now she lives in New York. Good golly!

Although we only see each other every few years, we can hop on the phone any time and talk as though we live across the street. 

It was a quick visit, but we got in some sight seeing and shopping before getting Jen back to the SF airport Sunday morning. It was a good time to have a visitor because there was one last place I wanted to go in California before we left...I wanted to go to Pescadero when it wasn't work related and I wasn't tromping through a chicken ranch with a film crew (which was fun, by the way...if you want more details, look up my employer on YouTube). 

Pescadero is on the coast between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz...a little more of a secret than the two aforementioned tourist hot spots! Pescadero is also home to the legendary Duartes Tavern, made famous by its olallieberry pie and artichoke soup. It's one of the first places I was told to visit when we arrived in California, so it's fitting it's the last place we visited before leaving.

We went to the lighthouse to see the sunset...it was way too cloudy to see the sun, let alone see it set, but we braved the wind and the salty sea air for a while

Thanks so much for visiting us, Jen! Thanks also for helping me find a pair of boots!! I love our quick reunions and cherish our friendship. 

Oh yeah. Boots? That's right...I finally joined the boot bandwagon, folks...you'll just have to take  my word for it because my maternity pants don't necessarily allow me to wear the boots on the outside like all the cool kids. I'm not sure how I feel about wearing skinny jeans while pregs..."skinny jeans" and "pregnant" don't necessarily go well together in the same sentence...but...we'll see if I change my mind. I'm really diggin' these boots!

18 Weeks

Justin has been gone again this week so I had to be creative with picture taking. When you only have one full-length mirror, it gets tricky, but I made it work!

Today marks exactly one week until we leave California. It still hasn't hit me yet...probably won't until we are unpacked and settled in Spokane for a few weeks! 

I've been wrapping up projects at work and training my replacement. Last night the owners took me out for a nice going-away dinner at Maggiano's and tomorrow I hear there is a little surprise celebration that I"ll have to act surprised about :)

BT is moving more these days, though I don't feel wiggling every day. I think, though, that if I were to sit and focus I would feel it every day. BT prefers my left side and low middle. Perhaps BT is afraid of venturing over to the right side without a flashlight or something ;) 

This weekend is crunch time for Team Thompson -- we have to get a few things cleaned out, organized and emptied. We also have a fun fourth birthday party to attend Saturday for little miss Eva and a co-going-away gathering with friends Sunday for us and another couple who is leaving in a few weeks. 

Before we know it, we'll be in Spokane! We secured a townhouse to rent on the South Hill, too! Please pray for a smooth transition, time to get things done, smarts to not overlook anything we need to get done and also for Spokane to have a heat wave the week we arrive :)
